If you needed proof that anime has gone fully mainstream in India, Crunchyroll just delivered it — quite literally written across the Delhi skyline. The global streaming platform wrapped up its month-long Ani-May 2026 celebration with a spectacular anime-inspired drone show over Delhi and a series of fan events in Mumbai, bringing India’s rapidly growing anime community together in a way that’s never been done before.

Ani-May 2026 India — Crunchyroll Event Highlights

The Drone Show That India’s Anime Fans Will Never Forget

Let’s start with the headline moment. Crunchyroll closed out Ani-May with an anime-inspired drone show over Delhi — a first-of-its-kind spectacle that turned the night sky into a canvas for anime art. For fans who have spent years watching their favourite characters on small screens, seeing those worlds rendered in light above a major Indian city was nothing short of surreal. It was the kind of moment that reminds you why fandom matters — it creates real, shared, unforgettable experiences.

Mumbai Comic Con: Crunchyroll’s Biggest India Presence Ever

Before the Delhi finale, Crunchyroll made waves at Mumbai Comic Con with what the company calls its biggest-ever India activation. The booth featured live dubbing experiences — letting fans step into the voice acting booth and try their hand at dubbing their favourite scenes — alongside fan activations, exclusive merchandise, and the standout Ani-May Thread Art Wall, a community installation that fans contributed to throughout the event.

It wasn’t just a marketing exercise. Anyone who walked through that space could feel it was built by people who actually love anime. That authenticity is increasingly rare, and it showed.

What Is Ani-May?

For those new to it, Ani-May is Crunchyroll’s annual month-long global celebration of anime fandom — spanning streaming, gaming, merchandise drops, and real-world experiences. The idea is simple but powerful: anime isn’t just something you watch, it’s something you live. As anime continues its meteoric rise as a global cultural force — with India emerging as one of its fastest-growing markets — Crunchyroll is clearly investing heavily in making India a centrepiece of that story.

Throughout May 2026, Crunchyroll also ran a pan-India social media spotlight, celebrating Indian anime fans by highlighting their fan art, creativity, cosplay, and passion across its channels. It was a quiet but meaningful gesture — telling Indian fans that their love for anime doesn’t go unnoticed on the global stage.

Why This Matters for India’s Anime Scene?

India’s anime community has grown from a niche internet subculture into a genuine mainstream movement over the past decade. Events like Ani-May — especially when they include physical, in-person moments like Comic Con activations and drone shows — accelerate that growth by creating shared memories and strengthening community bonds that go beyond the algorithm.
