Mandaadi Release Date Confirmed: Soori & Suhas’ Sea-Based Sports Action Drama Sets Sail for September 4, 2026

Tamil cinema has a fresh and exciting entry on the horizon. Mandaadi, the upcoming sports action drama featuring fan-favourite comedian-turned-actor Soori and Telugu star Suhas, officially has its release date locked in. The makers confirmed the big news on social media with a powerful note: “A story born from the sea is ready to conquer the world.”

Mandaadi – Key Details

What Is Mandaadi About?

Mandaadi follows the story of a traditional fishing captain who uses his maritime knowledge to lead a six-member team in a competitive annual sailboat race along the coast of Tamil Nadu. Think grit, the open sea, fierce rivalries, and the spirit of redemption — all wrapped in a high-stakes sporting backdrop. The sailboat racing genre is rare in Indian cinema, which makes this one genuinely unique. business-standard

What’s Soori & Suhas Up To?

Soori was last seen in a lead role in Maaman, directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj — a drama based on a story written by the actor himself. Looking ahead, he has also announced his seventh film as lead, tentatively titled Soori07, a gritty action entertainer directed by Ayalaan’s Ravikumar and backed by Mythri Movie Makers. business-standard

Suhas, meanwhile, was last seen in the lead of Hey Balwanth, a comedy drama that received mixed reviews. He has Cable Reddy and Anandrao Adventures lined up next.

Why Mandaadi Could Be a Dark Horse Hit

The combo of Soori’s natural screen presence and Suhas’s proven versatility, backed by a fresh sea-racing storyline, gives Mandaadi real underdog energy. A September release also means a relatively competition-free window at the box office.
