Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Becomes Youngest-Ever IPL Orange Cap Winner at 15: Full Stats & Records

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Becomes Youngest-Ever IPL Orange Cap Winner. It started with a 13-year-old getting bought at an IPL auction for ₹1.1 crore, with most people wondering if it was a novelty pick. Two years later, that same boy from Bihar has just walked away with the most coveted batting award in cricket’s richest league — and he didn’t even need to be present at the final to claim it.

History Written in the Final’s Opening Overs

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is only 15 years and 65 days old — and on the day of the IPL 2026 final between RCB and GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, he became all but assured of creating history as the youngest-ever winner of the Orange Cap after the cheap dismissals of Gujarat Titans openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan — the only two batters with a realistic chance of overhauling him.

Vaibhav is now the youngest player to win the Orange Cap, breaking the record of GT opener Sai Sudharsan, who was the top scorer of IPL 2025 at the age of 23 years. The gap between the two record holders? Eight years. That tells you everything.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Numbers That Define a Phenomenon

The Boy Who Arrived in Ahmedabad for His Cap

Sooryavanshi, whose campaign ended in the Qualifier 2 stage with RR’s seven-wicket loss to GT, incidentally arrived in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening in anticipation of winning the Orange Cap. He flew to the final not to play — but to collect history. That image alone says everything about the quiet confidence of this extraordinary teenager.

A Record With a Bittersweet Edge

After Vaibhav finished as the leading run-scorer in 2026, IPL 2014 and IPL 2021 still remain the only two seasons in which the Orange Cap winner also went on to lift the IPL trophy in the same season. Suryavanshi has the orange cap, but not the trophy — Rajasthan Royals fell short. For a 15-year-old, though, that only adds fuel to the fire for next season.

A Journey That Started at 12

Vaibhav made headlines when he made his debut in the Ranji Trophy for Bihar at just 12, making him the youngest player in India’s premier first-class tournament. From Ranji debutant at 12, to IPL contract at 13, to Orange Cap winner at 15 — the trajectory is almost impossible to believe.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi isn’t just the youngest Orange Cap winner in IPL history — he’s the clearest signal yet that Indian cricket’s next golden era has already begun. A boy who plays like he has nothing to lose and everything to gain. At 15, he already has records that players twice his age never will. The best? Hasn’t even started yet. 🌟
