Neymar Jr has officially extended his contract with PSG, silencing any and all rumours linking him with a return to Barcelona over the last few weeks. The player has reportedly had a verbal agreement since January and has now put pen to paper.
The new contract runs until 2025, which shows exactly how committed Neymar is to the project in Paris. The salary agreed has been for €30 million after taxes per season, with add ons. The Brazilian will also be entitled to a huge bonus if PSG manages to win their maiden Champions League campaign anytime in the next four years.
Considering the fact that they made it into the finals, and the semifinals in consecutive seasons, the Parisians could realistically hope to get their hands on the trophy sometime soon.
“I’m really pleased to continue my adventure at Paris Saint-Germain,” said Neymar.
“I’m very happy in Paris, and proud to be part of this squad, to work with these players, a great coach and to be part of the history of this club.
“These are things that make me believe even more in this great project. I have grown as a person here, as a human being and as a player, too. So I am very happy to extend my contract and I hope to win many more trophies here.”
While the Champions League might be out of the reach of PSG this season, they still have the French Cup and Ligue 1 to play for, and Neymar could play a huge role in ensuring domestic success for his club.
