Ranveer Singh Banned by FWICE Over Don 3 Exit — No Industry Member Will Work With Him Until He Responds

One of Bollywood’s biggest controversies of 2026 just got a whole lot more serious. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially issued a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against Ranveer Singh, following his reported exit from Don 3 — a move that has allegedly caused losses worth Rs. 45 crore to Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment.

What Exactly Happened?

Ranveer Singh was originally announced as the lead of Don 3, the third instalment in the iconic franchise. However, the actor reportedly pulled out of the project, throwing the entire production into disarray. Farhan Akhtar, who was set to both produce and direct the film, filed a formal complaint with FWICE, claiming not just financial damage but also professional setbacks — his acting dates had already been blocked for the duration of the directorial stint, and the film had entered pre-production.

The fallout, reportedly involving issues over vanity vans, bound scripts, and unmet demands, led to an irreconcilable breakdown between Singh and Excel Entertainment.

FWICE’s Strong Response

FWICE — one of the most powerful film industry bodies in India — convened its office bearers and moved swiftly. Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit, President Birendra Nath Tiwari, and Honorary General Secretary Ashok Dubey jointly addressed the media to confirm the decision.

President Tiwari made the federation’s position crystal clear: no FWICE member will work with Ranveer Singh until he personally comes forward to address the issue. The ban is effective immediately.

The official statement from FWICE read that the directive was issued considering the conduct displayed by Ranveer Singh towards the federation and all project stakeholders — and that the Non-Cooperation Directive would remain active until the matter is resolved.

Is There a Way Out?

Despite the firm stance, FWICE has left the door open. The federation stated that it remains willing to meet with Ranveer Singh, hear his side, and work towards an amicable resolution in the interest of all parties involved. The ball, for now, is entirely in Ranveer’s court.

According to Wikipedia, trade unions and film industry bodies like FWICE hold significant authority over Bollywood productions — a Non-Cooperation Directive effectively means no technician, crew member, or worker affiliated with the body can participate in any project featuring the banned individual.

What This Means for Ranveer’s Career

The timing could not be more complicated. Ranveer Singh recently delivered Dhurandhar, and a FWICE ban of this nature — if prolonged — could impact his upcoming projects significantly. Any production planning to cast him would face the risk of FWICE-affiliated crew refusing to work on set, which covers a massive portion of Bollywood’s technical workforce.

FAQs

Q: What is a Non-Cooperation Directive and how serious is it?

A Non-Cooperation Directive by FWICE means no member of the federation — which includes a huge chunk of Bollywood’s crew — can work on any project involving the banned individual until the matter is resolved.

Q: Can Ranveer Singh still work in Bollywood despite the FWICE ban?

Not without serious complications — the ban remains active until he personally meets with FWICE and the issue is settled to the federation’s satisfaction.
