Jos Buttler IPL 2026: 24-Ball Fifty Powers Gujarat Titans to Victory Over Delhi Capitals

Jos Buttler IPL 2026 brought the crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium to its feet, smashing a lightning-quick 24-ball fifty that powered the Gujarat Titans to a formidable 210/4 against Delhi Capitals.

After a string of quiet outings, Buttler’s explosive innings reminded everyone why he’s one of the most dangerous T20 players around. Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar offered crucial support, turning the match into a display of aggressive, smart batting. That win breathed new life into the IPL Gujarat Titans campaign after their rocky start to the season.

Buttler’s 24-Ball Blitz Changes Everything

All eyes were on Jos Buttler IPL 2026 as he stepped out, and he didn’t disappoint. Coming off a rough patch where he hadn’t even reached 30 in four games, some fans wondered if Gujarat should keep him in the top order.

He settled that debate in just 24 balls. Buttler went after Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, mixing classical batting with some outrageous innovation. He reached his fifty in just 24 balls—the quickest by any Gujarat player this year.

The momentum shifted completely in the sixth over, with Buttler ripping three straight boundaries off Axar Patel. First a reverse sweep, then a traditional sweep, and finally a big lofted shot over extra cover. Suddenly, Delhi’s spinners—usually one of their biggest strengths—just looked ordinary (as reported by ESPN).

Buttler’s timing couldn’t have been better. Gujarat had lost their last two games and needed their international stars to step up. He answered that call, helping post a total Delhi simply couldn’t chase (Delhi Capitals IPL).

How Gujarat’s Power-Play Strategy Worked

Gujarat didn’t just swing for the fences from the start—they took a smarter route. Instead, they focused on building partnerships before ramping up the aggression. Shubman Gill played anchor, giving Buttler the freedom to attack at the other end. That mix of composure and firepower paid off.

One key decision made all the difference: promoting Washington Sundar to number four. This tweak kept a left-right batting combo going through the middle overs, which made life tough for Delhi’s spinners.

Delhi just couldn’t stick to any plan. Rishabh Pant kept shuffling bowlers, and nobody had a chance to settle. Khaleel Ahmed’s struggles at the death hurt the most, with Gujarat racking up 47 runs in the final three overs (as highlighted by BBC Sport).

The Narendra Modi Stadium pitch made strokeplay easy, but Gujarat’s batters executed their plan to perfection. They attacked the shorter leg-side boundary, and Buttler along with Gill combined for six sixes in that area. Delhi’s fielding decisions always felt like they were playing catch-up, never quite keeping up with the action.

Gill and Sundar’s Supporting Roles

Even though Jos Buttler IPL 2026 took the spotlight, Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 67 quietly held the innings together. Gill kept the singles coming and made sure Buttler got plenty of strike. Together, they put on 89 runs in just 8.3 overs.

Washington Sundar slotting up the order was a masterstroke. He hammered 35 off just 22 balls, smashing two huge sixes off Lalit Yadav. Switching gears between aggressive shots and sturdy defence, Sundar unsettled Delhi’s bowlers from the get-go.

Axar Patel was the one Delhi bowler who looked in control, giving away just 28 runs in four overs and mixing up his pace nicely. Unfortunately for Delhi, nobody else came close to matching his accuracy.

Rishabh Pant faced a lot of heat for his captaincy as Chaos Delhi Capitals failed to stem Gujarat’s run-fest. Field changes came too late to make a difference, and the bowling rotations felt more like panic than strategy. Delhi’s death bowling woes—an old problem—came back to haunt them again.

Social Media Erupts Over Buttler’s Return

Cricket Twitter went wild as Jos Buttler IPL 2026’s highlight reel made the rounds. Fans who’d given up on him had to take their words back as his 24-ball fifty became the talk of the night.

Buttler proved again he’s one of the most feared batters in T20 when he’s on song.

The Gujarat Titans finally got the boost they needed. With Buttler firing again, their season suddenly looks a lot brighter.
