When Family Drama Crashes the Drama Set: The Practical Guide to Love Just Got Wildly Real

If you thought JTBC’s The Practical Guide to Love couldn’t get more intense — think again. The latest episode preview just dropped a bombshell that fans of K-dramas did not see coming.

The Chaos Unfolding on Set

Lee Ki Taek’s character Shin Ji Su has been struggling the entire season to prove himself as an actor on his own merit — not because of his famous stepmother, veteran actress Son Jeong Ah (played by Moon Jung Hee). He’s been grinding through auditions, facing cold treatment when on his own, while receiving VIP treatment the moment he’s seen with her.

Now, just when Son Jeong Ah makes a surprise special appearance on set to quietly support him, Shin Ji Su’s father Shin Ji Hoon (Choi Won Young) storms in — furious — and aggressively confronts her right in front of the cast and crew. And in a moment that hits differently, Shin Ji Su steps in between them, blocking his own father to protect his stepmom.

That’s the kind of layered emotional writing that makes Korean romance dramas so addictive.

Why This Scene Hits So Hard

The drama’s central theme — what does true love actually look like — extends well beyond the romantic plotline. Shin Ji Su choosing his stepmom’s side over his biological father’s rage is a quiet, powerful moment that redefines family loyalty on screen. It also raises the big question: why is Shin Ji Hoon so enraged at Son Jeong Ah in the first place?
