Sony plans to bring its games on Smartphones

It seems that Sony’s games can soon be made available on smartphones. I know we all tried those PSP and PS2 emulators on android back in the days, but they all sucked big time. But more than the gamers, Sony itself tried its best to provide its games on a small screen.

It brought its PlayStation Portable and also PlayStation Vita, even its Sony Ericsson Xperia Play that was a slider phone with physical gaming controls hidden beneath the display, couldn’t enjoy the same publicity as the Nintendo Switch.

However, it seems that Sony is thinking of taking a different approach right now, This time around looks like it is taking a different approach by focusing on bringing its top franchises more widely to smartphones.

Sony has recently posted a new job for a Head of Mobile position based in either San Mateo or Los Angeles, California. It’s a position to oversee the “mobile games strategy for PlayStation Studios and help build a foundation for future growth opportunities.”

The job description stated, “Do you want to lead the development and strategy of mobile gaming and help shape the future of gaming for a world-class studio? As Head of Mobile, you will own and develop the mobile game’s strategy for PlayStation Studios and help build a foundation for future growth opportunities. You will lead all aspects of the expansion of our game development from consoles and PCs to mobile & Live Services with a focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile. You will be responsible for building and scaling a team of mobile leaders and will serve as the Head of this new business unit within PlayStation Studios.”

We are still as to what exactly Sony is planning to do here, however, one thing is clear that Sony is making a comeback in the smartphone gaming business, and this time around it’s planning to stay. We have many high-end titles which are both available on smartphones as well as on the company’s consoles. Take for example Pubg and Fortnite.

However, if sony managed to make its exclusive games available on the smartphone platform then it will create ripples in the mobile gaming industry.
