Google’s latest smartphone launch is the Pixel 4a 5G. The smartphone was launched on 30th September 2020. After the launch of Google Pixel 4a, the tech giant was also ready to launch the Pixel 5A but it seems that this time it might not become a reality anytime sooner.
A famous tipster on Twitter who goes by the name Jon Prosser claims that Google Pixel 5A which has the codename “Barbet” has been canceled. The reason he is putting forward is that due to chip shortage there might be a halt in the Pixel 5A rollout. He has also added that the Google Pixel 4A LTE and Pixel 4A 5G versions will be continued throughout the year. This can also mean Google might not launch the Pixel 5A by this year.
A month back another mysterious Google smartphone from the house of the US tech giants has been found on India’s BIS certification bureau. BIS stands for Bureau of Indian Standards. This certification suggests an imminent launch of one of Google’s devices and it could be none other than the Pixel 5a. This upcoming smartphone is codename GROM2. Though, there is still no confirmation that GROM2 is Google Pixel 5a or not but the market believes that it is the device that is the most likely to make its way into the Indian market.
Earlier Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, and Pixel 4a were codenamed as G020F, G020B, and G025N respectively. Google will also start manufacturing some of its Pixel phones in the country. We already have a clue about how could Google Pixel 5a can look like. It will have a similar design as the Pixel 4a 5G.
