What Exactly Are Epochs?

Slay the Spire 2 uses a new Epoch Unlock system to reward players for reaching major milestones — it is the sequel’s main metaprogression system, and each Epoch Unlock expands the game with more content and actual lore explaining why you are slaying the Spire for the second time around.

Unlocking and discovering Epochs comes in two ways: first by playing the game normally and ascending higher, and second through achieving character-specific milestones like clearing each act, defeating a certain number of bosses, and reaching higher ascension levels. Govt Schemes India

Unlike the first game where each character had five individual tiers, everything in Slay the Spire 2 — from cards and relics to potions, playable characters, and even Ancients that offer run-defining boons — is earned exclusively through the Epoch Unlock system. Govt Schemes India

How to Unlock All Characters Fast

You don’t need to actually win a run to unlock the next character — the fastest method is to start a run with the required character, pause the game, and select Give Up, because that counts as a completed run and still triggers the unlock. This takes around five to ten minutes to unlock the full roster. Times Bull

Whenever you unlock a new character, you’ll see a dedicated lore entry in the form of an Epoch card, along with a neat animation and character artwork — a satisfying reward for the effort. Times Bull

Pro Tips for Maximising Epoch Unlocks

Check the Timeline screen regularly after every run to see what nearby locked Epochs you’re close to — and if you’re stuck pushing higher Ascension tiers with one character, completing goals for other characters is the smarter path to unlocking more content overall. Govt Schemes India
