What Is the New Peaky Blinders Series Actually About?

The new two-season sequel is set in 1953 — following on from the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie The Immortal Man — and focuses on a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham Blitz. The story follows the “next generation” of the Shelby family as they navigate the brutal, high-stakes world of post-war reconstruction, where the race to rebuild Birmingham with concrete and steel becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. Think Tommy Shelby’s ambition — but now translated into his children and grandchildren fighting over billions in government reconstruction contracts in a bombed-out, opportunity-laden mid-century Britain. The stakes are different, the era is new, but the blood and razor blades? Still very much in play.

Where Is It Filming & What Did We See?

Production crews from Kudos descended upon Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, for a focused two-day shoot on March 4th and 5th, 2026 — the first day of filming was almost entirely contained inside the historic Grade II-listed Queen’s Theatre, whose grand vintage interior perfectly captures the mid-century aesthetic. On the second day, the action moved to nearby Jenkins Street, where residents were treated to a glimpse of 1950s-era cars and period-appropriate set dressing transforming the neighbourhood into post-war Britain. Stoke-on-Trent has become a firm favourite for Steven Knight — parts of the original Peaky Blinders series were filmed at Middleport Pottery and the same Queen’s Theatre in Burslem, which has been closed for many years. Wikipedia

Wikipedia With Tommy Shelby’s wartime story finally told on the big(ger) screen, the sequel series will pick up the baton and hand it to the next Shelby generation in the 1950s — two full six-episode seasons, guaranteed. 🎩
