David Alaba still plans on signing for Real Madrid

As announced by the player himself, David Alaba is set to leave Bayern Munich after almost a decade long spell with the Bavarians that has seen him lift every trophy available in club football, winning the sextuple last season itself. The Austrian is on the verge of agreeing a contract with Real Madrid, as has been the case since the winter transfer window.

However, while rumours dictate that the deal is signed, renowned Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that no contract has been signed by the player as of yet. Madrid have agreed to match the salary demands of the defender, who will receive €12 million per season and the contract will be of four years, running until 2025.

Other clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and PSG are also rumoured to be in contact with his agent regarding a possible last minute swoop, as mentioned by Romano. Moreover, the player himself is willing to wait around and consider all possible options before committing to one.

The plan for the Austrian is still to sign for Real Madrid, but it is always complicated when it comes to such free agent deals. Bayern Munich have tried time and time again to negotiate a deal with their player, but he was adamant and wanted to leave the club at the end of the season.

One of the most versatile defenders across Europe, Alaba can not only play left-back but has also been deployed as a centre-back in recent years. For the Austrian national team, he plays a midfield role and performs the responsibilities for all positions with uniform brilliance.
