Cristiano Ronaldo became the best player of Serie A after leading Juventus to their 9th title in a row last season.
Yesterday, the Italian Footballers’ association (AIC) announced the winners of the Gran Gala del Calcio awards. Cristiano Ronaldo won the Serie A best player award.
After winning the award he thanked his teammates. He said to Football Italia, “It was a strange year, a year that no one would have wanted, but on a personal and team level, it was positive because we won the championship. In the beginning, it was difficult to play in empty stadiums, but our goal was to win the championship and we did it. We missed the Champions League but that’s how football is.”
“I want to thank my teammates because without them it wouldn’t have been possible to receive this prize. Thanks to the players who voted for me, I feel very lucky. I think trust, endurance, and passion are the secret to continuing to enjoy football. I feel motivated and these elements must coexist, otherwise, it’s not possible to play at this level when you are 35, 36, 37, or 40.”- he added.
Since joining the Italian side, he has scored 95 goals in just 122 games in all competitions. Though his future is in the centre of attention in the last few days as Juventus was knocked out of the Champions League by Porto. Juventus have been the victims of three giant killings in a row. In 2018-19 they lost to Ajax in the quarterfinal. Last season they were beaten by Lyon and this season Porto.
