On March 8th, AMD did announce the launch of their much anticipated 3rd Gen EPYC Milan processors on Monday, March 15, 2021, at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET or 8:30 PM IST.
So, today you can witness the launch of the new Zen 3 based EPYC server processors that is set to stir the market once again. Already we know how Zen 3 has changed the single-core performance and made Intel speechless with its performance & efficiency.
Much like last-gen, AMD will launch a couple SKUs for the public, as per leaks, the 3rd generation AMD EPYC Milan family will have at least 19 SKUs. It will be based on TSMC’s 7nm process node and feature up to 64 cores, 280W TDPs, & increased clocks compared to the 2nd Gen EPYC Rome lineup.
From what we know so far, there are three 64 core SKUs, four 32 core SKUs, four 24 core SKUs, four 16 core SKUs, and a single 56, 48, 28, 8 core SKUs. According to sources, the CPU will feature a base clock of 2.45 GHz and a boost clock of 3.50 GHz along with a 256 MB L3 cache and 32 MB L2 cache.
The highest base frequency is offered on the EPYC 75F3 which is the 32-core part and features a 3.25 GHz frequency plus a 280W TDP. As per the Geekbench comparisons we have seen until now AMD’s new Milan SKUs are ripping off the competition and so it will be interesting to see how AMD presents its new offering publicly.
