It is not something new seeing Apple suddenly announcing that it will discontinue one of its products. We already know that Apple may very well discontinue iPhone 12 Mini this year and recently we have heard the news that Apple has already decided to discontinue the original, full-size HomePod. Reports indicate that the Cupertino giant has now decided to focus on its speaker efforts on the HomePod mini.
HomePod mini has been a hit since its debut last fall, offering customers amazing sound, an intelligent assistant, and smart home control all for just $99. We are focusing our efforts on the HomePod mini. We are discontinuing the original HomePod, it will continue to be available while supplies last through the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores, and Apple Authorized Resellers. Apple will provide HomePod customers with software updates and service and support through Apple Care.
If we check Apple’s online storage space for the full-size Homepod, then we can see that the Space Grey model is already sold out. It had a great sound quality, but it was criticized for its high $349 price tag. Though, the price was dropped to $299 in April 2019, and but then the company launched the HomePod mini last year, with a price tag of $99.
But, it is not surprising that Apple decided to end the sales of its full-size HomePod, as we are already that the device didn’t meet Apple’s expectations of the sales. the very same reason as to why Apple might end-up ditching the iPhone 12 Mini as well
