Netflix has officially unveiled the first look at one of its most anticipated 2026 releases, and it’s unmistakably romantic. The streaming giant shared a stunning first-look image featuring Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes and Louis Partridge as Lord Tewkesbury, with the caption that perfectly captures the film’s new direction: “Where Enola must crack life’s greatest mystery: love.” The image shows Tewkesbury down on one knee, presenting a flower ring to a visibly shocked Enola, signaling a major shift in the beloved detective’s journey as she balances solving mysteries with matters of the heart.

Millie Bobby Brown’s New Chapter

Following her iconic decade-long role as Eleven in Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown is stepping boldly into her next chapter as an accomplished adult actress. The 21-year-old returns to her role as Enola Holmes with a promise of evolution and depth. Brown herself teased the direction of this third installment, stating that audiences will experience “a very different Enola Holmes that you’re going to be able to see.“

Acknowledging fan requests, Brown shared that the filmmakers are answering prayers: “You asked for romance, so we’ll give you romance.” This commitment reflects Netflix’s confidence in deepening the romantic storyline between Enola and Tewkesbury, transforming the detective’s narrative from purely crime-solving adventures to include genuine emotional connection and personal growth. Beyond her acting, Brown serves as a producer on the film through her production company PCMA Productions alongside her father, Bobby Brown.

A Romantic Mystery Awaits in Malta

Unlike the London-based investigations of the first two films, Enola Holmes 3 takes the titular detective to the sun-drenched island nation of Malta. According to Netflix’s official logline, the story unfolds as “Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide in a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.”

This location change adds fresh visual appeal and narrative opportunities, allowing the filmmakers to blend exotic cinematography with the intricate mystery elements that define the franchise. The Malta setting provides the perfect backdrop for a story where Enola must navigate both a dangerous investigation and the complexities of her evolving relationship with Tewkesbury, creating a tale that promises both thrills and emotional resonance.

The Enola Holmes franchise has established itself as a global phenomenon. The first film reached 76 million households on Netflix, with the original 2020 release introducing audiences to Sherlock Holmes’ brilliant younger sister solving crimes across Victorian London. Enola Holmes 2, released in November 2022, expanded the scope as Enola opened her own detective agency and collaborated with her famous brother on a dangerous investigation.
