Irrespective of whether one is a fan of Real Madrid or not, they must concede to the fact that Los Merengues are the most decorated and prestigious club in the history of football and in the modern world as it stands.
Madrid completed 119 years as a football club on the 6th of March.
The Spanish giants have managed to win the coveted Champions League trophy a record 13 times in their history. The only other team who has come close to ten is AC Milan with 7. The next best is Bayern and Liverpool with 6 and Barcelona with 5. When you combine all the European trophies they have won in their career, the magic number is 23.
Real Madrid have won 23 European trophies throughout their 1.2 century long existence, which is more than any club in the world and most clubs have not even come close to the number of domestic trophies that they have European ones.
Los Merengues have managed to win the La Liga title a record 34 times, and they have also won the FIFA Club World Cup the most number of times as well, with four to their name and the 2017, 18 and 19 titles coming in succession.
While it is a rather unknown fact, Real Madrid HAVE won the Europa League. And what’s more, that has been on two occasions, in 1984/85 and the following season in 1985/86. They have hence managed to win every major trophy available to them.
Some of the greatest names to have played for the club include Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Raul, David Beckham, Ronaldo Nazario, Sergio Ramos, Roberto Carlos and Iker Casillas to only get started. The list will go on, and so will the prestigious history of the club.
