The Perfect Trio: Premium Team Composition

Banyue + Dialyn + Lucia

This represents Banyue’s absolute best-in-slot composition that maximizes every aspect of his kit. Dialyn converts Chain Attacks into Ultimates, providing massive damage without consuming Decibels, while boosting Banyue’s CRIT DMG. Meanwhile, Lucia increases his HP and heals all allies, synergizing perfectly with his HP-to-Sheer conversion mechanics.

Why this team works: Dialyn’s stun extension lets Banyue execute his full combo rotation during single stun windows—critical since all his damage occurs during these brief opportunities. Lucia’s HP buffs directly amplify Sheer Force scaling while providing sustain for aggressive play. Together, they enable Banyue to clear all endgame content with proper rotations.

Budget-Friendly Alternatives

Option 1: Banyue + Ju Fufu + Astra Yao

For players without premium S-ranks, Ju Fufu serves as an off-field Rupture applicator essential for Banyue’s core mechanics. Astra Yao provides team-wide healing through her Ultimate, ensuring Banyue maintains his HP pool for maximum Sheer Force output. This composition trades Dialyn’s CRIT buffs for accessibility while maintaining core functionality.

Option 2: Banyue + Trigger + Pan Yinhu

Trigger can effectively replace Ju Fufu as a versatile Rupture sub-DPS who pairs well with on-field DPS requiring extended field time. Pan Yinhu activates Enhanced Special Skills quickly, providing significant Sheer buffs through Quick Support mechanics. This team offers flexibility without sacrificing too much performance.

Understanding Banyue’s Core Mechanics

Banyue’s entire kit revolves around generating Wrathful Fires (his rage meter) through parries, perfect dodges, defensive assists, and Adrenaline consumption. Once you accumulate 120 Wrathful Fires, activate Visage of Wrath during stun windows to unleash four enhanced EX Special Attacks that consume zero Adrenaline.

The catch? His combos require precise sequential inputs like traditional fighting games. Players can hold Special Attack for automated combos, but manual execution grants Vidyaraja stacks that significantly boost damage. According to HoYoverse’s official ZZZ page, mastering these mechanics separates good Banyue players from elite ones.

Key Teammate Synergies

Must-Have Support Features:

HP buffs (scale Sheer Force directly)
Stun extension (maximizes combo windows)
Off-field Rupture application (enables core mechanics)
CRIT DMG amplification (multiplies burst damage)

Stun Agent Priority: Dialyn > Ju Fufu > Trigger. Dialyn’s free Ultimate generation and stun extension make her irreplaceable for optimal rotations, though Ju Fufu provides solid performance as a budget alternative.

Support Agent Priority: Lucia > Pan Yinhu > Astra Yao. Lucia’s HP, Sheer Force, and CRIT DMG buffs create perfect synergy with Banyue’s scaling mechanics.

FAQs

Q: Is Banyue beginner-friendly or does he require advanced skills?

Banyue has a high skill ceiling due to his fighting game-inspired combo system requiring precise timing and sequential inputs. While you can hold buttons for automated combos, manual execution with perfect cancels grants significantly more damage through Vidyaraja stacks. New players can achieve decent results, but mastering his full potential demands practice with parry timing and combo memorization. He’s comparable to Yixuan in complexity.

Q: Can I use Banyue effectively without his signature W-Engine?

Yes, though Wrathful Vajra (his signature) is optimal with its 30% HP boost, 20% CRIT Rate, and stackable Fire Sheer DMG buffs. Alternative S-rank options include Cloud Flow (Yixuan’s signature) which provides equivalent HP and CRIT Rate, or Kraken’s Cradle. The performance gap isn’t massive—focus first on getting proper teammates like Lucia and Dialyn, as team composition impacts damage more than weapon choice for Rupture agents.
