Intel is all set to launch the new Rocket Lake-S desktop processors in the upcoming months, and a lot of them have already been leaked on various benchmarks. Yesterday, we also spotted the 11th Gen Core i9 series and now its time for the budget Core i5-11600K to step up.
The upcoming 6 core, 12 thread processor has been spotted on Geekbench with a 3.9GHz base and 4.9GHz boost frequencies. It makes a score of 1565 points in single-core and 6220 points in multi-core tests, tested on a Gigabyte Z490M motherboard with 16GB RAM clocked at 1066 MHz.
The direct competitor to the Core i5-11600K is the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X launched a few months back, and as per our review, we know how good the processor is. However, the score of the Intel CPU is not up to the mark as the average scores of the Ryzen 5 5600X on Geekbench.
Well, if we do keep the low RAM clock speeds in mind, still the 12 MB of L3 cache, a 3.9 GHz base frequency along with 4.9 GHz boosts are unable to match AMD’s pehenomenal IPC uplift over last-gen.
Also, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is one of the coolest CPU and runs 200MHz lower than that of the Intel SKU but making better results on Geekbench. It will be interesting to see how these new Rocket Lake-S CPUs catch up against AMD and if offer better value as well as performance or not.
