WhatsApp is bringing back one of its original features with a modern twist! The messaging giant has revamped its ‘About’ feature, making it more interactive and visible with emojis, short phrases, and customizable timers. This update transforms how users share their availability and mood.

WhatsApp Revamps ‘About’ Feature

The updated About feature moves beyond the traditional static bio. Now positioned prominently at the top of one-on-one chats and user profiles, it functions like a dynamic status indicator that lets contacts know your current mood or availability without sending a message. Think of it as a blend between Status and a traditional bio—temporary yet personal.

Key Features of the New About

Feature	Details
Visibility	Top of 1-1 chats and profiles
Quick Replies	Tap someone’s About to reply directly
Expiry Timers	Default 1 day, customizable duration
Expression	Emojis + short phrases
Privacy Controls	Choose who sees your About
Access	Settings → Set About

How It Works

The About feature now allows context-aware communication. Users can tap on a contact’s About to reply directly, creating natural conversation starters. Whether you’re signaling you’re busy with work, free to chat, or just sharing your current vibe with an emoji and phrase, the feature adapts to your needs.

Privacy remains a priority—you control who sees your About, limiting visibility to contacts only or expanding to a wider audience. The automatic expiry timer (default one day) ensures your About stays current and relevant, though you can adjust this in Settings → Set About.

The revamped About feature is rolling out to all mobile users starting this week. For more information, visit WhatsApp’s official website and check out our messaging app updates.
