The Indian Super League has been in full flow since November last year. The league leader ATK Mohun Bagan and second-placed Mumbai City have already qualified for the playoffs. The last two places are still up for grabs with 5 teams still fighting for qualifying.
ISL has now officially confirmed the playoff dates.
ISL 2020-21 Playoff dates:
- Friday, March 5 – Semi-final 1 – 1st leg
- Saturday, March 6 – Semi-final 2 – 1st leg
- Monday, March 8 – Semi-final 1 – 2nd leg
- Tuesday, March 9 – Semi-final 2 – 2nd leg
Saturday, March 13 – Final
The ISL clubs spent more than 6 times on incoming players than the last season. The clubs have spent 9.5 crores compared to last year’s Rs 1.4 crore. There’s a lot of qualities in the teams this year.
Anuj Kichlu of Best Of You Sports said, “ISL has expanded and clubs are moving from 1-2 year contracts to long-term contracts with younger players. The buying and selling of players never happened in the first 4-5 years.”
This season’s Indian Super League has been way more interesting, and the addition of the two Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal has lifted the prestige of the ISL a bit higher.
We may see the newly formed ATK Mohun Bagan FC win this season’s ISL and continue the form of its former entity ATK. It is pretty clear that West Bengal is the football hub of India with its rich football culture and success.
