How BSNL eSIM Works

The GSMA-accredited Tata Communications MOVE platform enables BSNL to remotely provision 2G, 3G, and 4G connectivity services through secure QR codes, completely eliminating the need for physical SIM cards. This technological leap simplifies the entire activation process—subscribers can now get connected within minutes from anywhere.

The service supports dual-SIM devices, allowing users to maintain both a physical SIM and an eSIM simultaneously. This flexibility proves invaluable for professionals managing separate work and personal numbers, frequent travelers switching between carriers, or anyone wanting backup connectivity options without carrying multiple phones.

Benefits of BSNL eSIM Technology

The partnership between BSNL and Tata Communications represents a massive step toward modernizing India’s telecommunications infrastructure. Remote provisioning eliminates tedious store visits, lengthy verification processes, and physical SIM damage concerns that have plagued traditional mobile connectivity.

For users, the advantages are immediate and tangible. Lost or damaged phones no longer mean waiting days for SIM replacement—simply scan a QR code on your replacement device. International travelers can add local eSIM profiles without removing their primary SIM, maintaining seamless communication across borders.

Environmental benefits shouldn’t be overlooked either. By eliminating millions of plastic SIM cards annually, BSNL’s eSIM adoption contributes significantly to reducing electronic waste and supporting India’s sustainability goals.

Digital India Vision

This partnership reinforces Tata Communications’ commitment to supporting the Government’s Digital India vision, promoting technological independence and ensuring robust infrastructure for the future. As BSNL continues expanding its 4G network and preparing for 5G deployment, eSIM technology positions the operator competitively against private players.

The collaboration showcases how public-private partnerships can accelerate digital innovation in India’s vast telecommunications market, potentially serving hundreds of millions of subscribers with next-generation connectivity solutions.
