Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Testing Starts This Week With 100 Players

EA and Battlefield Studios have announced the launch of Battlefield Labs testing for Battlefield 6‘s highly anticipated battle royale mode, featuring 100-player matches and what they call the “deadliest ring in BR” that instantly kills on contact.

Battlefield 6 Battle Royale: “The Battlefield Way”

Developed by Ripple Effect, the mode promises to infuse core Battlefield elements – class-based squadplay, tactical destruction, and vehicle combat – into the battle royale genre for a unique high-stakes experience.

Testing Details Overview

Revolutionary Ring System

Unlike other battle royale games where players can survive outside the ring temporarily, Battlefield 6’s “deadliest ring in BR” instantly eliminates anyone who makes contact. “There’s no jumping in and out of it, no using it for cover, no walking through it–if you get caught in it, you are done” according to Battlefield Studios.

Core Battlefield DNA Intact

• Each class starts with two default gadgets
• XP progression unlocks enhanced traits during matches
• No class switching once match begins

• Transport and armored vehicles available
• Combined arms gameplay encouraged
• Gadgets, explosives, and destructible environments

Match Structure and Features

Map and Setting

The custom-built tropical map features diverse points of interest designed specifically for battle royale gameplay. Early footage shows soldiers navigating through what appears to be a resort-style environment with pools and recreational areas, suggesting a lighter tone compared to the main Battlefield 6 experience.

How to Join Testing

Battlefield Labs testing requires an NDA agreement and prohibits sharing gameplay footage. EA has temporarily closed new sign-ups but will reopen the program for additional testing phases. Interested players should monitor the official Battlefield Labs website for updates.

This represents EA’s second attempt at Battlefield battle royale after 2019’s Firestorm mode in Battlefield V, with significantly more development resources and focus this time around.
