Did Doja Cat Really Eat Lipstick at 2025 MTV VMAs? The Viral Red Carpet Moment Explained

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards delivered another unforgettable Doja Cat moment that has the internet buzzing! The American rapper stepped onto the Red Carpet in a stunning blue and yellow chequered mini dress, but it was her bright red lipstick stunt that caught everyone’s attention. Let’s dive deep into this viral moment that’s got everyone asking: did she really eat makeup?

The Doja Cat Shocking Red Carpet Moment

Doja Cat appeared to be reapplying her bright red lipstick while posing on the carpet, but then shocked reporters and fans by putting some in her mouth, taking a bite off it and chewing the top part of the lipstick. The moment was captured by countless cameras and quickly went viral across social media platforms.

What Really Happened?

After applying lipstick to her lips, she took a giant bite out of the stick, chewed and swallowed it with a smile, later telling Entertainment Tonight that the lipstick was “delicious”. However, fashion experts and makeup professionals quickly noted something important about this dramatic gesture.

The Truth Behind the Stunt

Seeing as her mouth did not turn into a sea of red chunks, it’s unlikely that the item in her hand was actual makeup. The internet speculated it was probably cake or candy, making for a perfect pre-event snack.

Strategic Brand Partnership Move

The stunt served as a way to draw attention to Doja’s latest role as the global ambassador of MAC Cosmetics, making it not only a fashion statement but also a nod to her partnership. This clever marketing move perfectly aligns with her reputation for boundary-pushing red carpet appearances.
