Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Lyon striker Moussa Dembele on an initial loan deal, with an option of buying the player afterwards.
“This loan, in the amount of 1.5 million euros ($1.82 million) is accompanied by a purchase option set at 33.5 million euros to which may be added incentives up to 5 million euros, as well as a sell-on fee of 10% on a possible future transfer,” Lyon said in a statement.
The French striker was signed as a replacement for Diego Costa, who was released by Atletico Madrid a few weeks ago. All that said, it will be a little while before Diego Simeone can select the player for his team since he is currently recovering from an injury.
Lyon have also completed signing a replacement for the outgoing Dembele, with Islam Slimani of Leicester City joining the Ligue 1 team on a free transfer, according to Transfermarkt.
The Algerian signed for the Foxes following their title-winning campaign for an ambitious fee worth €31 million and has since spent three loan spells at Newcastle United, Fenerbahce and Monaco respectively.
Slimani has only managed to make 47 appearances for Leicester City, scoring 13 goals and assisting 7. He spent a fair amount of time with Leicester’s second team as well, while at the club. His best performances were arguably for Liga NOS club Sporting CP, for whom he made 111 appearances and scored 57 goals.
