The horror genre rarely gets associated with joy, but The Conjuring: Last Rites is breaking that stereotype. Set to release on September 5, 2025, this highly anticipated finale promises to deliver spine-chilling thrills while maintaining an unexpectedly joyful atmosphere on set, thanks to director Michael Chaves.

The Conjuring: Last Rites Behind the Screams: A Director Who Brings Light to Darkness

Vera Farmiga, returning as paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren, exclusively revealed to Pinkvilla that “Chaves brings joy. His cup runneth over with joy.” This unique approach to horror filmmaking sets Chaves apart in an industry where darkness often consumes both the screen and the set.

Patrick Wilson, reprising his role as Ed Warren, praised the director’s growth: “He’s now four movies into his horror oeuvre. He’s much more confident. His confidence, his passion—and he’s pushing himself technically.”

This approach hasn’t compromised the scares—instead, it’s created an environment where creativity flourishes, potentially delivering the most terrifying yet emotionally resonant Conjuring film to date.
