8Bit Creatives, a prominent gaming talent management agency based in India, has announced its entry into the live broadcast and production sector. The company has been appointed as the Official Broadcast & Production Agency for Season 4 of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League (GCL), the world’s largest franchise-based chess league.
The mandate positions 8Bit Creatives to deliver comprehensive live broadcast production for the entirety of the nine-day league, scheduled from September 5 to 13, 2026, in Bengaluru. Additionally, the agency will serve as the official photography and videography partner for the event. This move marks a strategic expansion for =8Bit Creatives (https://8bitcreatives.com/) beyond its established talent management operations.

Season 4 of the GCL, promoted by Tech Mahindra in partnership with FIDE (the International Chess Federation), will feature six franchises competing at The Lalit Ashok. The lineup includes renowned chess players such as Magnus Carlsen, Alireza Firouzja, Anand Viswanathan, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, and Javokhir Sindarov, alongside other elite grandmasters and rising prodigies. The league’s distinctive six-board team format, which pairs men’s and women’s boards with icon players and juniors, remains a unique aspect of the global chess circuit. Triveni Continental Kings, two-time champions, enter the season as a leading contender.

8Bit: Advanced Production Aims for Enhanced Viewer Experience
8Bit Creatives plans to leverage its expertise from the esports and gaming sectors to deliver a high-quality, audience-centric broadcast for the chess league. The production strategy includes deploying over 30 cameras across three halls, incorporating Jib and Steadicam coverage, and dedicated cameras for individual boards and player reactions. For the first time in the GCL’s history, the broadcast will feature two fully independent live feeds in English and Hindi.
The agency will also integrate its in-house chess data capabilities to enhance viewer insight. This involves live DGT board feeds complemented by real-time evaluation graphics, player statistics, and analysis boards. An LED-driven in-arena experience will extend the broadcast’s data and storytelling elements to the live venue. The production will culminate in global live coverage across the league’s official platforms, supported by daily highlights and an official after-movie.
Animesh Agarwal, Co-founder of 8Bit Creatives, stated, “The Global Chess League provides an opportunity to introduce a fresh perspective to sports broadcast and explore new methods of audience engagement. Chess possesses a unique ability to generate tension and drama with every move, and we are enthusiastic about collaborating with the League to manifest that experience through a contemporary, data-rich, and audience-first broadcast.”
Gourav Rakshit, Commissioner of the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League, commented on the collaboration: “Season 4 is our largest to date, and the fan experience holds equal importance to the on-board action. With 8Bit Creatives, we have secured a partner who approaches chess broadcasts with the same dedication and meticulousness as premier sports productions, maintaining a constant focus on the viewer. From the intensity in the six-board arena to the at-home experience, this season is set to be distinct from previous iterations.”
This venture into broadcast and production signifies an evolution for 8Bit Creatives, which was founded in 2018. The agency has grown from a gaming talent management firm, representing prominent gaming creators such as Naman Mathur (Mortal) and Payal Dhare (Payal Gaming), to a broader creator and entertainment company. The move reflects broader trends in the digital entertainment landscape, mirroring similar industry developments.
