5 Tamil and Telugu OTT Releases This Week That Deserve Your Watchlist Spot

If your weekend streaming plans need a refresh, Tamil and Telugu cinema has five genuinely varied titles dropping this week — from a decades-spanning weaving-town drama to a supernatural thriller led by a spiritually gifted exorcist. Here’s your complete guide.

Top 5 Tamil and Telugu OTT Releases:

1. Habeebi — SonyLIV (Sept 25)

Set across four decades in a weaving town near Tirunelveli, “Habeebi” follows Yousuf, a traditional weaver trying to preserve his family’s handloom legacy, alongside Abu Thahir and Nilofar’s quiet, enduring love story unfolding against a changing community backdrop. Directed by Meera Kathiravan, it stars Kasthuri Raja and Malavika Manoj.

2. Photographer — Prime Video (Sept 25)

A fantasy mystery with real stakes: Veera, an ambitious young man with OCD, ventures into the dangerous Mathikettan Solai reserve forest to photograph a rare natural phenomenon. Lost and hallucinating, he stumbles upon illegal cultivators, setting off a tense forest-ranger-led rescue mission. Ashraf Ali both directs and stars.

3. Angikaaram — SunNXT (Sept 25)

A sports drama with heart: Aathiran Banumathi, a talented 200-meter runner from a Chennai slum, fights poverty and discrimination to earn a Commonwealth Games spot — only to be unexpectedly dropped from the roster. What follows is his battle to reclaim his shot and challenge institutional bias.

4. Ramba Oorvasi Menaka — Prime Video (Sept 25)

A fantasy comedy starring Allari Naresh as Suri, an aspiring actor running a drama troupe who discovers an ancient book capable of summoning celestial nymphs Rambha, Urvashi, and Menaka. When his mother needs urgent surgery, he finally succeeds — only to be thrown into chaos as the nymphs struggle to grasp the modern world.

5. Agadha — ZEE5 (Sept 25)

A supernatural mystery thriller starring Kamakshi Bhaskarla as Mahadevi, a spiritually gifted exorcist who returns home after her cousin’s mysterious death. Her investigation leads her to a forbidden cave, a mystical twelve-handed idol, and a dark cult-controlled entity she must confront in a final supernatural showdown.

Why This Week Stands Out?

This lineup is a solid snapshot of how diverse South Indian OTT content has become — spanning weaving-town family drama, sports underdog stories, and supernatural mythology. Films drawing on India’s rich tradition of folklore, like “Agadha” and “Ramba Oorvasi Menaka,” continue to find strong streaming audiences by blending ancient mythological elements with modern storytelling.
