5 Women-Led Action Movies to Watch on OTT

Film	Lead Actress	Director	OTT Platform	Year

1. 🔴Mardaani (2014) — Netflix

Rani Mukerji portrays Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy, a fierce cop who goes head-to-head with Mumbai’s child-trafficking mafia. This is raw, gritty cinema that doesn’t flinch — Rani delivers one of the most powerful female performances in Hindi film history. If you haven’t seen it yet, fix that tonight.

2. 🟡 NH10 (2015) — Prime Video / Zee5

A happy couple on a road trip gets dragged into the brutal world of honour killings. Anushka Sharma transforms from a terrified victim into a fierce survivor in one of Bollywood’s most chilling action thrillers. Raw, unfiltered, and deeply unsettling in the best possible way.

3. 🟢 Sherni (2021) — Prime Video / MX Player

Vidya Balan plays a forest officer tasked with capturing a man-eating tigress — while battling political interference, corrupt locals, and a rogue hunter who wants the tigress dead. It’s an intelligent, measured film that uses wildlife as a powerful metaphor for systemic injustice. Quiet but devastating.

4. 🔵 Article 370 (2024) — Zee5 / Netflix

Yami Gautam dons the shoes of a diligent NIA agent navigating some of the deadliest covert operations in the lead-up to a landmark constitutional decision. Tightly written, politically layered, and anchored by Yami’s career-best performance. A must-watch for fans of grounded spy thrillers.

5. 🟣 Jigra (2024) — Netflix

Alia Bhatt plays a determined sister willing to cross every limit — legal, moral, and physical — to rescue her brother from a foreign prison. Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra is a slick, emotionally charged action film that proves Alia is one of the most versatile stars of her generation.
