Intel Raptor Lake Non-K CPUs gets listed Online

Intel was supposed to formally unveil its 13th Generation Core ‘Raptor Lake’ CPUs at CES on January 5, but according to a listing noticed by @momomo us, at least one European store expects to start selling the parts on January 3, 2023. Retailers are also preparing to begin selling Intel B760 and H770-based motherboards, albeit some of those platforms will be available much later.

The leaked listing not only exposes the new CPUs’ purported launch date as well as preliminary pricing (prices may be exaggerated due to the early listing), but also general configurations of the upcoming 13th Generation Core processors. Of course, we’re dealing with unofficial information, so proceed with caution.

The standard SKUs will continue to include 24 cores, including eight high-performance Raptor Cove cores and 16 energy-efficient Goldmont cores, just as the unlocked 13th Gen Core i9-series. The primary distinction between Core i7 ‘Raptor Lake’ and ‘Alder Lake’ components is that the former features four more energy efficient cores. With more cores and faster clock speeds, the new chips will almost surely rank among the top CPUs for gaming.

Meanwhile, the main difference between Core i5 ‘Raptor Lake’ and ‘Alder Lake’ processors is that the newer ones will include four or six Goldmont cores, when the previous ones did not. With four extra cores, Core i5 CPUs will be significantly more competitive in multi-threaded applications. The Core i5-13500 appears to be the most competitive, with 14 cores (6P+8E) at a price of €320 ($282 without VAT). In comparison, 13th Gen Core i3 components will not include any processing engines but will still include four high-performance cores.

Prices for the new 13th Generation Core ‘Raptor Lake’ desktop parts appear to be fairly costly.

However, there are a few factors to keep in mind here. To begin with, prices in Europe are normally slightly more than costs in the United States. Second, retailers who advertise new parts before of formal availability in order to attract early adopters often charge a premium.

We cannot state that Intel B760 and Intel H770-based motherboards for LGA1700 processors are cheap, as they all cost well over €200/$200. Meanwhile, the majority of the listed motherboards support low-cost DDR4 memory, thus systems based on the upcoming 13th Generation Core ‘Raptor Lake’ processor will be reasonably priced. This is especially crucial because they compete against AMD’s Ryzen 7000-series processors, which only support DDR5, and AMD’s partners have yet to offer low-cost AM5 motherboards.

Intel’s non-K 13th Generation Core processor lineup for mainstream and compact PCs is expected to contain 17 SKUs with 35W and 65W processor base power (PBP) and CPU models using Raptor Lake B0, Alder Lake C0, or Alder Lake H0 stepping dies. The European shop now lists just 65W machines, which is understandable given that Intel normally sells such SKUs before 35W chips.
