Apple to announce new M2 iPad Pro models soon

According to respected Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple will soon release new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro versions. Gurman made this announcement today in his most recent Power On newsletter.

The higher-end iPad hasn’t had an update since both versions received the M1 chip and a new 12.9-inch mini-LED display in April 2021. The new 11-inch and 12.9-inch devices, codenamed J617 and J620, are the first to do so. The forthcoming iPad Pro versions are anticipated to receive the M2 Apple silicon processor, providing quicker performance and perhaps additional charging capabilities, as their first update in a year and a half.

The new iPads won’t look much different from the present devices in terms of appearance. A mini-LED display, which is presently only available on the bigger 12.9-inch model, was said to be coming to the smaller 11-inch device, but that is no longer anticipated to happen.

Apple to Launch entry-level iPad and M2-powered iPad pro this October

According to earlier rumours, the next iPad Pro versions might also have some kind of MagSafe charging capability.

Reverse-wireless charging capabilities may also be included in the upcoming iPad Pro versions, enabling customers to charge their iPhones or AirPods on the back of the tablet.

Apple is no longer planning an event for October in light of the incremental update anticipated for the next iPads. Through press releases and updates on its website, Apple is anticipated to introduce the new iPads and improvements to the Mac portfolio.

Apple is anticipated to release iPadOS 16 this month along with the new iPad Pro models. This year’s iPadOS and iOS updates were not made available at the same time, in contrast to previous years. Apple chose to postpone the release of iPadOS 16 until later in the fall so that it would have more time to polish the update and develop Stage Manager. Despite the upcoming release of iPadOS 16, Stage Manager, a new multitasking and windowing system for particular iPad models, still has issues.
