Nottingham Forest smashed the record for the most transfers in a single window by a Premier League club, signing 21 players in the summer of 2022. Scottish sides Dundee (summer of 2000) and Livingston (2001) held the previous record, with 19 incomings.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis has backed Steve Cooper to the greatest extent possible. The manager now has a brand new squad to work with, as reinforcements have arrived in every position.

Nottingham Forest’s record breaking summer: Will it help them become top-flight regulars?

The likes of James Garner, Philip Zinckernagel, Max Lowe, Keinan Davis, Brice Samba and Djed Spence all returned to their parent clubs after their loan spells expired. Over 20 players left the club at the end of the season, after winning promotion to the top flight.

As a result, the massive incoming list was necessary for the playoff winners to have a competitive squad.

Here is the list of Nottingham Forest signings:

Goalkeepers

Dean Henderson

Wayne Hennessey

Defenders

Renan Lodi

Willy Boly

Neco Williams

Harry Toffolo

Loic Bade

Cheikhou Kouyaté

Omar Richards

Giulian Biancone

Moussa Niakhaté

Midfielders

Orel Mangala

Morgan Gibbs-White

Jesse Lingard

Remo Freuler

Lewis O’Brien

Brandon Aguilera

Attackers

Emmanuel Dennis

Taiwo Awoniyi

Hwang Ui-jo

Josh Bowler

It is important to note, though, that some of these players have also been loaned out and won’t be a part of the squad for the season. The issue now becomes the integration of all these players into the fold, and having a cohesive dressing room which can lead to results on the pitch.

Steve Cooper proved his worth when he won the play-offs last season. And now, he has a bigger challenge in front of him in the Premier League.
