Apple rumoured to use Gloves to detect Finger Gestures for its AR Headset and Glasses

Apple submits several patent applications, but not all of them will result in a commercially viable product. The majority of the time, businesses register for patents to protect innovations for the future, yet such technologies can eventually make it into the finished product.

The Cupertino giant continues to gain patents relating to the use of gloves for skin-to-skin contact detection in augmented and virtual reality, which has been the subject of long-running rumours regarding the company’s AR Headset and AR Glasses. According to Patently Apple, users may be able to move a cursor, scroll, launch a document, make selections, and more using VR gloves.

Skin-to-skin contact may be necessary during tasks performed while wearing the Apple Glasses. In addition, the headset’s camera or radio frequency-based technologies might be utilised to monitor a user’s finger movement.

The new patent also describes a method for detecting skin-to-skin contact that needs two gadgets similar to the Apple Watch. The patent claims that one wearable will be used for gesture implementation, and the other will be used for sensing.

In addition, the patent depicts a ring in place of a timepiece that might function occasionally with the VR Gloves. Whether and when Apple will use the patents it gained depends on the company. The product does not necessarily need to be released promptly.
