Intel Arc A730M GPU displays performance on par with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Notebook GPU

The first gaming benchmarks for Intel’s Arc A730M mobile graphics card have been released by a Weibo user(opens in a new tab) who goes by the nickname “Golden Pig Upgrade.” He’d already offered a couple of synthetic benchmarks, but nothing beats real-world performance when it comes to evaluating the Arc A730M’s gaming capabilities.

The reviewer used the identical Machenike Dawn Discovery Edition 2022 gaming laptop, which has a Core i7-12700H (Alder Lake-H) processor, an Arc A730M graphics card, and 16GB of DDR5-4800 memory. The Arc A730M uses Intel’s ACM-G10 hardware if you’re unfamiliar with the Arc family of graphics cards.

With a graphics speed of 1,100 MHz, the graphics card has 24 Xe cores. The Arc also has 12GB of GDDR6 RAM with a 192-bit memory interface. The A730M is positioned comfortably below the flagship A770M, which provides up to twice the compute capabilities of the former.

It’s unclear whether he used the Dynamic Tuning Driver (DTT). DTT is a feature that optimizes the CPU and graphics card’s power restrictions dynamically to increase performance, battery life, and thermals. Furthermore, the Weibo critic stated that Shadow of the Tomb Raider refuses to work and crashes every time he launches the game, indicating that Intel’s Arc drivers still have a long way to go. Finally, for several of the games evaluated, the frame times reflect a lack of software optimization.

The Arc A730M performed admirably in Metro Exodus, averaging 70 and 55 frames per second on the high quality preset at 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 resolutions, respectively

Unfortunately, the driver’s poor optimization showed itself in the form of framerate dips as low as 9 FPS, according to the reviewer. Even with the high preset, the graphics card performed admirably in F1 2020. During the benchmark, the Arc A730M had no trouble holding average framerates above 60 FPS, regardless of resolution. Even the lowest framerates were never below 80 frames per second.

Only on the extremely high preset in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey did the Arc A730M struggle, with the graphics card barely providing a playable experience over 30 frames per second. However, the Weibo user noticed that minimum framerates were dropping (10 FPS or below).

The performance of the Arc A730M should not be judged solely based on three championships. However, in Metro Exodus, the Arc A730M performs similarly to a GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile, based on current hardware. However, in games like F1 2020 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Intel’s quasi-flagship performs more like a GeForce RTX 3050 Mobile.
