ATK Mohun Bagan 3-1 NorthEast United FC: 3 talking points as Mariners earn another win

ATK Mohun Bagan continued their winning streak by defeating NorthEast United in 3-1 in the ISL. Here are the three talking points from the game.

Winning streak goes on

The Mariners have been unstoppable for the last few months, and have defeated almost every team that has stepped up to them. Their last defeat came against Jamshedpur FC in early December, and they haven’t been on the losing side ever since. The arrival of Juan Ferrando has helped transform the team back into what we know they can be.

NorthEast United bottle lead

Despite scoring first, courtesy of Suhair Vaddakkepeedika in the 17th minute, the Highlanders were not able to hold on to the lead. While there isn’t much to play for this season, a win against ATK Mohun Bagan might’ve been some consolation. But, it just wasn’t meant to be, despite being on the front foot several times.

ATK Mohun Bagan up to second

The Green and Maroon outfit is now up to second place in the table. They are only three points behind league leaders Hyderabad FC, and have two games to play to catch up. As a result, the title race is heated up and will probably run until the final day.

And ATK Mohun Bagan are one of the favourites to win the title when the 20 games are played. To spice things up even further, their last game of the season will be against Jamshedpur FC, and will be a climactic end to the season.
