Amazon to take down Alexa.com, here’s what you need to know

Amazon announced to take down Alexa.com services on May 1 2022. If you think of the Alexa voice assistant and the devices you have with Alexa support will stop working, you are 100% wrong. Let me explain to you.

Alaxa.com was founded back in 1996 and was acquired by the e-commerce platform Amazon later on. That means, Alexa.com has been there and serving for around 25 years now. It provides SEO services and global and country wise rankings to all the websites, including our TechnoSports.co.in and Tech2Sports.com. The Alexa voice assistant, which we all know, is entirely different and has only one link; Alexa.com and the Alexa Voice assistant both are owned by Amazon. It simply means our Alexa Voice assistant enabled devices are safe and will be there after May 1 2022.

The website on a note reads, “Twenty-five years ago, we founded Alexa Internet. After two decades of helping you find, reach, and convert your digital audience, we’ve made the difficult decision to retire Alexa.com on May 1, 2022. Thank you for making us your go-to resource for content research, competitive analysis, keyword research, and so much more.”

They have not mentioned any specific reason why they are closing this website. But we have some idea.

1. Conflict with Alexa Voice Assistant

Most of us get confused between Alexa.com and Alexa Voice Assistant. It’s the main reason. A massive volume of Amazon’s business depends on the voice assistant. So, it needs to live and expand more. The Alexa Voice Assistant has grown up so big, it may need its own domain.

2. Competetion

The second point is the present market competition. There are so many players who provide better analysis and details related to SEO.

If you are a subscriber of Alexa.com, it will be valid till May 1 2022; the last billing date will be prior to April 1 2022. In case you are planning to take a subscription, let you know, that already stopped providing new subscriptions on 8th December.
