Galaxy S22 Ultra Concept Renders (Source: LetsGoDigital)

Samsung is expected to launch its next-gen Galaxy S22 Series flagship devices in January 2022, today a couple of new leaks emerged about the device. The Series is expected to have three models, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Until recently, it was rumored that the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra could carry the nametag of Galaxy Note 22 Ultra as the device will come with a built-in S Pen slot and is replacing the tech giant’s Galaxy Note Series. However, the latest report contradicts this.

As per the latest information shared by Ice Universe, the high-end model of the Galaxy S-Series will be called the Galaxy S22 Ultra and not the Galaxy Note 22 Ultra.

The phone will come with several Note-Series features but the company is sticking to its branding.

Recent renders reveal that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will come with a body similar to the Galaxy Note 20 with sharp corners on all four sides.

The phone is expected to have a 6.8″ Super AMOLED LTPO display with support for QHD+ screen resolution and a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

The phone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 898 SoC or the Exynos 2200 SoC with AMD RDNA2 GPU, all of this depends on the market. It is expected to have 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.

Coming to the camera specs, it will have a 108MP primary camera, that will be paired with a 12MP ultrawide camera, and two 10MP telephoto lenses.

Coming to the battery life of the device, we can expect to see a 5,000mAh battery from two different companies, Samsung ADI and China’s Amperex Technology Limited. Both the company’s batteries will be used in the initial production batch.

Samsung had cut ties with Amperex Technology Limited in 2017 when its batteries were causing extreme heat for the Galaxy Note7, which had led to the phones and their owners both going up in flames.

Samsung began dealing with ATL once again for the batteries of the Galaxy S21 Series that launched earlier this year. Prior to that, they limited the usage of ATL batteries to only mid-range devices in the Galaxy A and M Series.

Apart from smartphones, the batteries made by China’s Amperex Technologies are also used in the GALAXY Watch and Galaxy Buds.

As per a report, we can expect the Galaxy S22’s vanilla version to get a 3,800mAh battery, a 4,500mAh for the Galaxy S22 Plus, and a 5,000mAh battery for the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The battery capacity on the upcoming S-series models will be lower but with the advancement of technology and better optimization, the battery life of the device is expected to remain the same as current models, if not better.

Samsung is initially planning to make around 20 million units for the entire Galaxy S22 lineup, however, the numbers could increase once mass production is behind or as the device gets launched as the company is accustomed to making at least 25-30 million units in the initial batches.
