Asus launches its Chromebook Flip CX5400 powered by Tiger Lake processors

During the pandemic, the demand for Chromebooks and the boom in remote learning have increased the demand even further. We have recently seen many of the OEMs increasing their production of Chromebook’s and Google itself is also adding new features that are more kid-friendly and help in online learning.

The OEM announced that its latest and new Flip CX5400 model is available as of now. And this device is probably the slimmest 14-inch convertible Chromebook to date. Coming to its overall structure the Chromebook Flip CX5400 is 0.6-inch (1.5 cm) thick and only weighs 3.1 lbs (1.4 kg).

Speaking of the specifications, the new Flip CX5400 comes powered by the Intel Tiger Lake-U i7-1160G7 processor with integrated Iris Xe graphics, and also that the laptop comes enveloped in aluminium chassis.

The powerful Intel processor is also supported by the soldered 16 GB of LPDDR4x and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD. Some might suggest that Asus might have disregarded the display feature for this device, and many OEMs do tend to neglect the display in their Chromebooks. However, this device from Asus is an expectation.

The display not only has touch capabilities but is also complemented by a USI Stylus. In the 14-inch screen on the Flip CX5400, we will also find a slim-bezel design, an 1080p resolution, and a good colour gamut with 100% sRGB coverage.

Coming to its other specifications we will find that since the device is powered by the Intel Tiger Lake platform, it will also offer two Thunderbolt 4 connectors, as well as a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 and an audio jack.

Its other specifications include having a 720p webcam with privacy shutter, backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi 6 + BT 5.0 module, and a 48 Wh battery which can last up to 10 hours. The integrated GPU is not targeted towards gaming however, Asus recommends this convertible as the ultimate cloud gaming supporting Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce NOW.

The price of the Chromebook is placed at $1,049.99 for the U.S. and is yet to be made available for purchase.
