Roma to finalise Patricio transfer now that Portugal are out of Euros

After Portugal were dumped out of the Euros by Belgium last night, Rui Patricio is set to leave Wolves. The player has been heavily courted by Roma, and is now set to join the Italian capital club.

A transfer fee worth around €12 million has been agreed upon between Roma and Wolves for Patricio, and now that his international commitments are over, he can shift his focus to deciding his future. Jose Mourinho has singled Patricio as the target he wants this summer. Considering his experience in the Premier League, he is familiar with the player and being a fellow Portuguese, the connection is evident.

Wolves recently appointed Bruno Lage as their new boss following the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo, who was responsible for creating a Portuguese contingent at the Molineux, which includes the goalkeeper among many other players. The Premier League outfit are set to sign Jose Sa from Olympiacos as the replacement for Patricio.

The Wolves keeper has agreed personal terms with Roma, and only a final agreement between the two clubs is needed for the transfer to through. The Portugal number 1 was quite impressive during the national team’s European championship campaign, and pulled off some great saves despite their unsuccessful title defense.

Roma are also set to land Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka to complete the double swoop for the Premier League duo. The official agreement can be expected this very summer since the Swiss international is pushing to leave the club.
