The Dutch midfielder of Barcelona is one of the best players in their midfield and before going to Lisbon to face the favorites Bayern Munich, De Jong has spoken to BeIN USA. Naturally, there were questions about their expectation, mentality, and what they the team expects to face the current Bundesliga champions who are on fire this season.

First, he was asked about his strong performance against Napoli on Saturday that led 3-1 win:

“I think it was an OK match. I think we did well against a good team. Napoli is a difficult opponent but we had a good lead at all times. We got a good result in the first half so we could relax a bit in the second.”

Next, he was also asked about his swollen hand which forced him to bandage his hands:

“It was a wasp. I don’t what it is, an allergic reaction or something but it doesn’t bother me!”

Then, he was asked about the Finals in Lisbon:

“The team is very confident going to Lisbon. We are one of the best teams in the world with some great players. We have very positive energy and are feeling fine as a team.”

Frenkie was also asked about their tough opponent for the quarter finals – Bayern Munich:

“I don’t mind who the favourites are. Bayern have a really good team and are in really good form but we’ll what happens. After the game on Friday we can say who’s best.”

When he was asked about Champions League favourites, he said:

“We are one of the favourites, but Barça always are. But there are several teams that could win the Champions League.”

“The format gives a little advantage to the underdogs. They have a better chance to cause surprises in one game than they have in a home and away game.”

Friday’s match will be one of the most exciting ones in the Champions League history and Barcelona players are ready to face the favorites. It will be interesting to see if Bayern will ultimately beat a Spanish team as they have always been beaten by one in the history before almost five times in the last couple of years, obviously, this can change with their unbeaten form or Messi and is team might again prove wrong to the German giants.
