Asus silently launches ZenBook 14 UM425 & VivoBook Flip 14 TM420 laptops with Ryzen 4000U APUs

Asus fans were waiting for new Ryzen 4000U powered laptops but it seems Asus did not make it official about its new ZenBook UM425 & VivoBook Flip TM420 laptops with new AMD Ryzen 4000U APUs. Brought to attention by Liliputing, the product pages of both these laptops are active but there are no pricing or availability details announced as yet.

The laptop features 14-inch FHD 400 nits anti-glare IPS display that just consumes 1-watt power, also there will be a 250 nits version as well. The laptop’s display is a 4-sided NanoEdge display with up to 90% screen-to-body ratio, and has just 4.65 mm-thin side bezels.

It is powered by 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 4700U and 6-core Ryzen 5 4500U processors with  8 GB / 16 GB LPDDR4x 3733 MHz RAM options and a PCIe 3.0 X2 NVMe SSD with capacities of 256 GB / 512 GB / 1 TB. For graphics, obviously there’s the strong integrated Vega graphics and as it is based on 7nm process, it should deliver a great graphical experience as well.

For ports, we have 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1 x HDMI 2.0 and a MicroSD card reader. The laptop has a full-size backlit keyboard with 1.4 mm key travel and an edge-to-edge design. It also features a 3D IR HD camera with Windows Hello support and the numpad keys integrated in the trackpad area.

On the connectivity front, we have Intel WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support. Asus has packed a big 67 Wh 4-cell lithium-polymer battery which the company claims to last for up to 22 hours battery life as per MobileMark benchmarks.

Asus VivoBook Flip 14 TM420

This is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop featuring a 14-inch LED-backlit Full HD (1920 x 1080) display with 16:9 aspect ratio and 82% screen-to-body ratio. You get 3 options in terms of the APUs: the AMD Ryzen 3 4300U, Ryzen 5 4500U and Ryzen 7 4700U with 4, 6 and 8 cores respectively and without SMT but includes the integrated Vega graphics.

The laptop can be configured with 8 or 16 GB of LPDDR4x 3200 MHz RAM along with 256GB / 512GB / 1TB PCIe SSD options. It features a full-size backlit keyboard with 1.4mm key travel along with an HD Camera. On the connectivity front, you get Intel WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support.

For ports we have 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x HDMI, 1 x Audio combo jack, 1 x MicroSD card reader, 1 x Kensington lock and a DC-in port. The laptop comes equipped with 50Wh 3-cells lithium-polymer battery which shall give you a decent amount of battery life along with fast charging support that lets you charge up to 60% in 49 minutes.
