Its been few days since the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor has been revealed but Tum Apisak has already found the CPU being tested in an MSI system on Geekbench 5.
The entry-level chip performs significantly better scoring a single-core score of 1,095 points and 4,507 points in the multi-core test. The Ryzen 3 3100 feature 4 cores and 8 threads with 3.6 GHz base and 3.9 GHz boost clock speeds and 16 MB of L3 cache.
It is compared with the Kaby Lake CPU the Core i7-7700K, with 4-cores, 8-threads that has a 91 W TDP and higher clock speeds in the range of 4.2 GHz – 4.5 GHz. Even though it’s not a fair comparison as this new CPU’s actual competitor will be unannounced Intel Core i3-10100.

However this gives us a fair idea how much performance this entry-level Matisse chip is capable of. In the Geekbench 5, the Intel chip scores a single-core score of 1,235 points and 4,733 points in the multi-core test.
The Ryzen CPU manages to grab a decent score and hold up against the Kaby Lake CPU. However, you might notice this is the best performance of the Ryzen 3 3100 against the average performance of the Core i7-7700K.
So, even if this $99 CPU just gives a comparable performance to a $350 CPU, it is fair enough because the price at which you are getting this 7nm CPU is incredible. Pairing this CPU with a cheaper B550 motherboard will be a lucrative deal for budget PC builders.
