Netflix has dropped the new trailer of Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese’s 1899. With the consistency of their stylistic penchant for serving up dread and thrill in equal measure, this project just takes on a slightly different trajectory, one has been titled more towards mystery with less time traveling that has been incorporated into the scenario.

There is a really international show keen to project the linguistic diversity of Europe, 1899 with several European languages spoken in the movie. From Polish to French, Spanish, and German. There is a fitting montage of European culture. As an ambitious project, 1899 was just produced using the latest cutting-edge technology set to render with visual effects. A video game has been employed to create virtual sets and the motion graphics permit high-level in-camera edits. 

Now, 1899 follows a group of immigrants from such diverse backgrounds traveling from Europe to New York in search of unique opportunities. By set in 1899, just at the turn of several centuries, the passengers also united in optimism based on what the future holds until they encounter another migrant ship adrift on the open sea. There is a hitherto not-so-complicated journey that has been promised land that turns into a horrifying night of staggering proportions. 

1899: Plot 

The one-minute-long trailer provides a little idea of expectations. If you are the fand of Dark then you will be quite familiar with the heavy use of cryptic symbols and strange-liking artifacts. There is the first clip that unveils a bewildered group of passengers with a voice asking the reason to be on this ship. In this question the response they all just running away from something. We are assuming the following sense mainly exposes the passenger’s encounter with another clip. It seems that the ship brings with the horror.  

This is the second trailer that unravels the universe of Dark masterminds Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar without explaining what is actually happening. There are a lot of breadcrumbs to follow containing the repeated image of a black triangle that might prove fodder for such online speculation long after the series drop globally on Netflix.

The series features Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, Miguel Bernadeau, Maciej Musical, Lucas Lynggard Tonnesen, Rosalie Craig, Tann Gael, Mathilde Olliver, Isabella Wei, Gabby Wong, Flynn Edwards, and Alexandre Willaume. 

1899: Release Date 

Netflix’s upcoming series is set to hit on 17th November 2022.
