The Story That Will Move You

Suzuki Shinya reigns as Latin dance champion – all fire, passion, and competitive intensity. Sugiki Shinya dominates standard dance – precise, elegant, and seemingly perfect. Suzuki despises comparisons to his rival, but when Sugiki challenges him to master an elite competition requiring proficiency in both dance styles, pride won’t let him refuse.

Here’s the twist: to succeed, these polar opposites must teach each other their specialized techniques. What starts as reluctant collaboration transforms into something neither expected. As they bridge the gap between Latin’s fiery spontaneity and standard’s refined structure, Suzuki discovers feelings that go beyond competition.

It’s enemies-to-lovers meets dance floor magic, and honestly? We’re here for every passionate moment.

Meet the Dynamic Cast

Fresh off acclaimed performances in Netflix’s Glass Heart and the live-action Yu Yu Hakusho, Machida brings depth to the disciplined standard dance champion. Fans of Alice in Borderland will recognize his ability to convey complex emotions beneath a composed exterior.

Takeuchi Ryoma as Suzuki Shinya
Known for his powerful lead in Like a Dragon: Yakuza and films like Akira and Akira, Takeuchi embodies the fiery competitive spirit Suzuki requires. His track record suggests he’ll nail the character’s transformation from hostile rival to vulnerable romantic lead.

Supporting Ensemble:

Doi Shiori (The World of Two People) as Tajima Aki
Ishii Anna (My Fave Is Mine) as Yagami Fusako
Hamada Shinya (Hayabusa Fire Brigade)
Maeda Oshiro (Lost Man Found)

What Makes 10Dance Special

Experienced Creative Team: Director Keishi Otomo and screenwriter Yoshida Tomoko bring proven credentials, ensuring the manga’s essence translates effectively to film.

Will It Cover the Entire Manga?

The source material spans 40+ ongoing chapters, each containing 25-57 pages of story. Condensing this into a 126-minute film presents challenges. Expect either a carefully curated adaptation focusing on the central romance arc or strategic setup for a potential sequel. Either way, manga purists and newcomers alike will find plenty to enjoy.

FAQs

Is 10Dance suitable for viewers unfamiliar with ballroom dancing?

Absolutely! While dance serves as the backdrop, the film focuses on the emotional journey between the two leads. No prior knowledge of Latin or standard ballroom dancing is needed to appreciate the story, character development, or romantic tension. The movie will likely introduce dance terminology naturally through the narrative, making it accessible to all viewers.

Do I need to read the manga before watching 10Dance?

Not at all – the film is designed as a standalone experience. While manga readers will appreciate seeing their favorite scenes come to life, newcomers can jump straight into the movie without any background knowledge. The screenwriter has adapted the story to work for both audiences, ensuring the plot, characters, and relationships are clearly established within the film’s runtime.
