Set against one of the most turbulent chapters in Korean history, tvN’s upcoming drama “100 Days of Deception” is drawing attention not just for its cast, but for the emotional weight baked into every character’s secret. With its newly unveiled group poster, the show is already signaling the kind of tension-filled storytelling fans can expect.

A Period Spy Romance With High Stakes

Directed by Yoo In Shik — known for “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and the “Dr. Romantic” series — “100 Days of Deception” is set during Korea’s period under Japanese rule, unfolding over a tense 100-day timeline. The premise blends espionage, romance, and resistance movements in a way that promises both political intrigue and personal stakes.

A Story Built on Secrets

At its core, the drama follows Lee Ga Kyeong as she infiltrates the Japanese Government-General of Korea, only to find herself entangled with Kim Tae Woong — a man living a double identity of his own. Meanwhile, Yoo So Ran’s carefully constructed fake marriage to journalist Yoo Philip serves as cover for a deeper plot: exacting revenge on Sato Shinichi, Kim Tae Woong’s powerful adoptive father.

What the New Poster Reveals?

The newly released group poster leans heavily into the show’s central theme of deception, capturing each character mid-emotion — Lee Ga Kyeong’s furious gaze, Kim Tae Woong’s desperate urgency, Yoo So Ran’s quiet sorrow, and Yoo Philip’s visible shock. Sato Shinichi, meanwhile, appears watchful and suspicious, hinting at his role as the story’s central threat.

Why This Drama Stands Out?

Period dramas set during this era often carry significant emotional and historical weight, and pairing that backdrop with a spy-romance narrative gives “100 Days of Deception” a unique tension: personal loyalty constantly colliding with political survival. With a director known for balancing emotional depth and gripping storytelling, expectations are high for how this narrative unfolds.

“100 Days of Deception” premieres October 10 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
