The Setting
The drama takes place during the Japanese occupation of Korea, a period you can read about on Wikipedia. Kim You Jung plays Lee Ga Kyeong, a pickpocket who becomes an undercover spy for the independence movement and infiltrates the Japanese Government-General of Korea. There, she gets tangled up with interpreter Kim Tae Woong, played by Park Jinyoung. He goes by the name Sato Hideo and is the adopted son of the Inspector-General of Korea.
Where Episode 2 Left Off?
In the last episode, Lee Ga Kyeong turned down the money she had asked for from Yoo So Ran after the plot to assassinate Sato Shinichi went wrong. Sato Hideo then went looking for her and learned she had quit her job. The two met again at the pawn shop, where he caught her in his arms and declared that he had finally got the pickpocket.
Police Storm the Pawn Shop
The new stills show a surprise. Police officers burst into the pawn shop with their guns drawn and aim at both of them, and the pair freeze with their hands in the air. Lee Ga Kyeong looks terrified that she’ll be exposed as a pickpocket. Sato Hideo, by contrast, seems relatively calm as he stares down a gun barrel, which makes you wonder what he’s thinking.
The Confrontation Continues
After the police leave, the tension between the two doesn’t. Lee Ga Kyeong keeps insisting she isn’t a pickpocket, while Sato Hideo’s suspicions grow as he tries to recover his lost pawn shop ticket. It’s a cat-and-mouse game with romantic undertones.
What the Team Promises?
The production team says Episode 3 marks the start of Lee Ga Kyeong’s activities as a spy and brings a change in her relationship with Sato Hideo. They describe a thrilling and heart-fluttering story built on lies and suspicions that are spiralling out of control.
