Top 10 Most Expensive Signings by Liverpool in History ft. Florian Wirtz

Liverpool have completed one of the most significant transfers in Premier League history, after negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for German playmaker Florian Wirtz. The potential deal, valued at €140 million, is poised to rewrite Liverpool’s record books and send a bold statement across European football.

Let’s delve into the list of the top 10 most expensive signings of Liverpool in history:

11. Mohamed Salah

Signed from: AS Roma (Serie A)
Transfer fee: €42 million
Signing season: 2017/18

Salah has been one of the key players for Liverpool since joining the Reds. He has been their main man alongside Mane as they went on to win the Champions League and the Premier League. The Egyptian has been instrumental for Liverpool, and the transfer fee now seems too small concerning the influence he has in Klopp’s side.

10. Cody Gakpo

Signed from: PSV Eindhoven (Eredivisie)
Transfer fee: €42 million
Signing season: 2022/23

9. Diogo Jota

Signed from: Wolverhampton Wanderers (Premier League)
Transfer fee: €44.7 million
Signing season: 2020/21

8. Fabinho

7. Christian Benteke

Signed from: Aston Villa (Premier League)
Transfer fee: €46.5 million
Signing season: 2015/16

The forward only played one season at Anfield and was sold to Crystal Palace the following year. He is among the very few on this list, who haven’t clicked for Liverpool the way they wanted despite paying high transfer fees.

6. Luis Diaz

Signed from: Porto (Liga Portugal)
Transfer fee: €47 million
Signing season: 2021/22

After the departure of Mane, Diaz has taken over the left-wing role and he has done a good job till now. Only time will tell if it was a wise transfer.

5. Naby Keita

Signed from: RB Leipzig (Bundesliga)
Transfer fee: €60 million
Signing season: 2018/19

4. Alisson Becker

Signed from: AS Roma (Serie A)
Transfer fee: €62.5 million
Signing season: 2018/19

The undisputed No 1 at Liverpool has a safe pair of hands under the Liverpool bars. The former Roma man has been worth every penny Liverpool has spent.

3. Darwin Nunez

Signed from: Benfica (Liga Portugal)
Transfer fee: €80 million
Signing season: 2022/23
