According to reports from Chinese sources, NuVolta Technologies, a pioneer in semiconductors has launched a second-generation, fast-charging chip product with the model number “NU2205”.
According to the brand’s official introduction, Volta NU2205 is a single-chip, pump fast charging chip with the highest power in the industry, and the charging power has the capacity to reach 100W.
At present, it is the only chip in China that supports the dual-cell 4:2 charge pump fast-charging architecture. Volta’s successful development of this chip will help break the monopoly of foreign manufacturers in the dual-cell fast charging industry.
The brand claims that the future of the chip is to provide a 200W dual-cell fast charging solution for mobile devices. This would be the highest power fast charging chip that will be on the market.
In addition to this, the chip can also guarantee low heat generation throughout the entire process. The official statement says that at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees Celsius along with 16V input, 2 batteries will be charged at a high current of 10A and 20A. The temperature rises correspond to 44.9 degrees and 46.8 degrees respectively.
What is more interesting is that Volta used the device body images of the Xiaomi 11 and 11 Pro, which hints at the two companies partnering up together. It appears that Xiaomi will release the first device with the 200W charging technology.
Xiaomi had announced officially as early as May that the Xiaomi 11 Pro had broken two world records, among them the wired charging with 200W input enables the device to go from 0 to 100% in an estimated 8 minutes. This will make it a first.
However, at the time Xiaomi had not officially announced the specifics of the device nor an implementation plan, but now it appears that their device will be equipped with the Volta NU2205.
