ZTE is set to become the first brand to introduce an under-display camera in its devices to the market. Previously about a year ago we have seen Oppo had shown a smartphone with an under-display camera, but somehow, the phone has not been made official. It might be a matter of time that under-display smartphones start hitting the market.
Earlier today, Ni Fei, president of ZTE mobile devices confirmed via Weibo their intention of launching the first under-display Smartphone. While many brands have been working on such technology, it appears ZTE might beat them to it.
The under-display feature intends to replace the notch or punch hole camera to provide uninterrupted viewing. There have been concerns about achieving decent image quality. However, rumor has it that ZTE will make use of Visionox, a Chinese display manufacturer that claims it has perfected the under-display camera feature.
While the product itself has not been named, it is being speculated that the upcoming ZTE A20 5G model will be sporting this innovative feature. The launch date is yet to be announced.
According to a report by Gizmochina, a ZTE phone with model number ‘ZTE A2121′ was spotted on State Radio Regulation of China (SRRC) certification website.
