Yuvraj Singh to Join Delhi Capitals as Coach for IPL 2027?The King is Back, But in a Different Role

For 17 years, Yuvraj Singh made dugouts erupt. Now, he’s about to make one his home — but this time, from the other side. India’s most explosive World Cup match-winner is set to begin his formal coaching journey, and he’s doing it with Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2027. The legend is returning. Just in a different avatar.

The Report That Has Indian Cricket Buzzing

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh might be all set to join the DC support staff from IPL 2027, as per a report in the Times of India. Sourav Ganguly is expected to be the head of the support staff as JSW returns to take control of the franchise for two years — a development confirmed by a senior DC official.

Two icons. One dugout. One franchise desperate for a turnaround. The combination alone sends a chill down the spine of every IPL fan.

Why DC Want Yuvraj — And Why It Makes Perfect Sense

Yuvraj is quite famous among the younger lot of players like Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Prabhsimran Singh, having coached them at some level — and this may have propelled DC to approach the hard-hitting batter.

A source close to the development painted a vivid picture of what Yuvraj brings: “He doesn’t just train players; he mentors them. It’s not limited to phone calls or virtual sessions. He spends hours on the ground, often standing behind the nets and working under the sun alongside his players. It’s a genuinely hands-on approach that has benefited numerous cricketers.”

That is not a coach. That is a guardian. And that’s exactly what Delhi Capitals need.

Yuvraj Singh — Career & Coaching Snapshot

A Franchise in Dire Need of Magic

The Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals were poor in IPL 2026, finishing sixth with seven wins and as many losses. Batting failed at key moments, while bowling looked thin overall.

Enter Yuvraj. Enter Ganguly. Enter a new era.

“Who wouldn’t want a Yuvraj Singh in the dugout? Many of his former teammates, including Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag, have had coaching stints in the IPL. Yuvraj may be a little late to the party, but he has spent considerable time working with youngsters and understanding the demands of the role,” a source added.

Late to the party? Perhaps. But when Yuvraj Singh walks into a room — or a dugout — the party only truly begins.
